Belmont Stakes 2012 Bloodlines: Five Sixteen

Belmont Stakes 2012 logoFive Sixteen’s sire Invasor (ARG) raced 12 times from 2005-07. He won eleven times including the G1 BC Classic in 2006, defeating Bernardini. He captured the Dubai World Cup in ’07 and banked more than $7.8 million in his career. His current stud fee is $20k.

Invasor’s sire Candy Stripes (by Blushing Groom) won 2 of 6 starts and finished 2nd in the G1 French Two Thousand Guineas in 1985. He sired 59 stakes winners including Leroidesanimeaux (BRZ). He died of colic in 2007 at age 25.

Dullahan’s sire Even The Score raced 29 times from 2001-04. He won the G2 Mervyn LeRoy and G2 Californian before finishing 3rd in the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup to end his career in 2004. He banked more than $751k in his career. His current stud fee is $10k and in addition to Dullahan he is also responsible for multiple grade one winner Take The Points.

Even The Score’s sire Unbridled’s Song (by Unbridled) earned more than a cool million on the racetrack and was on the Triple Crown trail in 1996. The ’95 BC Juvenile hero won the G1 Florida Derby and G2 Wood Memorial before finishing 5th as the favorite in the ’96 Derby.  He is responsible for more than 90 stakes winners including Unrivaled Belle, Midshipman, and Mission Impazible.

Atigun’s sire Istan raced 21 times from 2004-07. He captured a pair of flat mile grade three events (Ack Ack, TP Fall Championship) in ’07 and banked more than $461k in his career. He is also the sire of G3 Lecomte hero Mr. Bowling.

Istan’s sire Gone West (by Mr. Prospector) was on the Triple Crown trail in 1987, making waves in the Hutcheson (2nd), Fountain of Youth (3rd), Gotham (1st),  Wood Memorial (2nd), Withers (1st), and Peter Pan (2nd), before finishing 6th in the Belmont Stakes. The late Gone West sired his 100th stakes winner earlier this year.
